The Nice to Meet You Greeting
Oftentimes new followers may not have read through your page to understand your business before catching you in the DM’s, but take this as an opportunity to draw them into your content.
The Question: Hey, your profile is awesome! What do you do?
The Reply: Hey (NAME), thank you! I am a (YOUR TITLE), specializing in (YOUR NICHE). I offer (COURSES/PROGRAMS/ETC) that help (IDEAL CLIENT) (END GOAL FOR YOUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS).
The Goldilocks Issue
What’s Goldilocks got to do with anything? Well, someone inquiring about your offer will typically go one of three ways. Either they’re not yet at the level to consume your lessons and shouldn’t invest if they aren’t ready, they’re too advanced for the offer and can potentially move to higher-level curriculum, or they’re just right for the program! At the end of the day, it’s your responsibility to help clients and students land at a point in your offer suite where they’ll be adequately challenged without being overwhelmed to the point of giving up. Remember to utilize follow-up questions to get to know them even better!
The Question: Hey! Should I purchase (COURSE/PRODUCT) if I’m at (THEIR BUSINESS LEVEL/INCOME LEVEL/ETC)? I’m not sure if I’m the right fit.
Reply 1 (For the Inexperienced): Awesome question! This program is designed for (IDEAL CLIENT) who are at an advanced stage of their business, and have already accomplished (PREREQUISIT ONE, TWO, THREE, ETC). I wouldn’t recommend jumping in unless those have been met, as it wouldn’t do justice to your investment in the course if you ended up overworked and bogged down by the minutia of the lessons. If you’re currently working toward this goal, I’d recommend (YOUR LOWER TICKET OFFER). Let me know if you have any questions, can’t wait to see all of your progress!
Reply 2 (For the Overly Advanced): Wow! You certainly have been putting in the work! Because you already have tackled so many of the pieces we work on in this program, I’d recommend (YOUR HIGHER TICKET OFFER) instead because you’ll be able to accomplish (SPECIFIC SELLING POINTS, GOALS, ETC). If you were interested in (ORIGINAL OFFER) just to keep in your toolbox as a point of reference, I’m happy to bundle it with (HIGHER TICKET OFFER) with a discount. The Well-Intentioned Request
As a marketer I can’t tell you the number of times that I get DM’s from people asking me to help market their new clothing line, their new lifestyle blog, their book release, their local restaurant, or something else that does pertain to marketing but just not to me! If a request is relevant to your industry but just not aligned with you, this is your time to courteously point them in the right direction.
The Question: Hi, I see that you’re in (YOUR INDUSTRY), so do you offer (SERVICE THAT ISN’T PART OF YOUR OFFER SUITE, BUT STILL ADJACENT TO YOUR INDUSTRY)?
The Reply: Hi! Congratulations on (WHATEVER THEY MENTIONED), that’s very exciting! While I am a (YOUR TITLE), I work primarily with (YOUR IDEAL CLIENT) and don’t currently have my hands in the area of (WHATEVER THEY’RE ASKING ABOUT). I would recommend checking out (A PRO IN THEIR DESIRED FIELD) because they do more of what you’re looking for!
